Day 1

Arrival in Paro-Thimpu (By-road-45.2 km-1hr)
As you arrive at the Paro airport, meet our tour representative who helps you with an assisted on-road transfer to Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan. Being the largest and the capital city of the Kingdom of Bhutan, Thimpu holds cultural, economic as well as political importance. Upon reaching your pre-booked hotel, complete the check-in formalities at your pre-booked hotel. Have dinner. Stay overnight in Thimpu

Day 2

Thimpu
After having breakfast on day 2, leave the hotel for a city tour of Thimpu valley including the prime tourist attractions. The first visit of the day is to the National Library, housing a selection of valuable Buddhist manuscripts. The other attractions include the Institute for Zorig Chusum or the Painting School where students learn 13 kinds of traditional art and craft; Textile and Folk Heritage Museum- housing a collection of Bhutan’s heritage textiles and cultural elements and King’s Memorial Chorten- built in remembrance of Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, the third King of Bhutan.

Day 3

Thimpu-Punakha (77 km-3 hours)
After an early breakfast on the 3rd day, begin your drive up to the Dochula Pass, lying at an altitude of 10,130 feet. This pass is quite popular for offering a majestic view of the Himalayan Mountains. The other amazing site here is the site of 108 Chortens, the fluttering prayer flags and the Mani wall. Do not miss viewing the highest peak of Bhutan, Gangkar Puensum, 7, 498 meters above the sea level (subject to clear weather). Arrive in Punakha, check-in at your hotel and continue with sightseeing.
Visit the well-known Punakha Dzong, also called Pungtang Dechen Photrang Dzong. An important site in the Kingdom’s history, this fortress was constructed in 1637, at the meeting point of rivers Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu. Stay overnight in Punakha.

Day 4
|
Punakha - Trongsa - Bumthang
After morning breakfast, start driving across the Pelela Pass, 3100 meters above the sea level. On the way, halt at Chendbji Chorten, a structure similar to Bodhanath Chöten in Nepal, erected by Tshering Wangchuk. It becomes the venue of annual Sambha Lhundrup Molam Chenmo festival. Begin driving again. The next visit is to the Trongsa Dzong, the largest fortress in Bhutan, built with a number of levels, the home of the royal family of the Kingdom.

Day 5
|
Bumthang
On day 5, after breakfast, you begin sightseeing in Bumthnag. The first visit is to the Kyichu Lhakhang or Kyerchu Temple, a sacred place housing a prime Himalayan Buddhist temple. The next visit is to the a 7th century monastery Jambay Lhakhang, which was built by Songtsen Gampo, a Tibetan King. Continue sightseeing, visiting the Jakar Dzong, established in 1549 by the great grand-father of the first Shabdrung.
In the evening, visit another popular monastery- Lhodrak Kharchhu Monastery, founded in 1984 by Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche, an important center for preservation of Tibetan culture. Stay overnight.

Day 6
|
Bumthang - Ura - Bumthang
After breakfast, the day is scheduled for a day-trip to Ura, a beautiful village. While on the road towards Ura, you cross forest area as well. For around 20 km, you also pass sheep pastures. Cross the Ura La Pass, 3600 meters hugh pass, while enjoying a great view of the Mt. Gangkhar Puensum.
When you walk around the village, you notice that it has clustered villages, contrary to what it is in Bhutan. Your next visit is to a new temple that is dedicated to Guru Rinpoche. Consisting of beautiful paintings based on his teachings and his huge statue, this temple is placed right above the village. Back to Bumthang. On the way, visit one of Bhutan’s most important sacred sites- Membartsho. Overnight in Bumthang

Day 7
|
Bumthang- Wangduephodrang- Punakha (215 km-7 hours)
Post breakfast on the 7th day, you hit the road to Wangduephodrang. On the way, you halt at Ta Dzong, built in 1652; it is a stone structure of 5 storyes, made in a cylindrical shape, now turned in a museum. You reach Wangduephodrang town, placed to the south of Punaka. It is like a scaled-up village with a number of shops. Later, explore the local market. Arrive in Punakha by the evening. Complete the check-in formalities at your pre-booked hotel. Stay overnight.

Day 8
|
Punakha-Paro (125 km- 4 hours)
Have breakfast and start driving towards Paro. En-route, halt at Simtokha Dzong, constructed in 1627, Bhutan’s oldest dzong. This structure also houses the Institute for Language and Culture Studies. On reaching Paro, check-in at your hotel.
The afternoon is scheduled for visiting Ta Dzong in Paro. Later, take a downward walk for visiting Rinpung Dzong, a beautiful fortress and a huge Drukpa Kagyu Buddhist monastery, housing Paro’s administrative office and the Monastic Body.

Day 9
|
Paro
On the 9th day of the tour, indulge in sightseeing in Paro. The list of attractions include a short trip to the most popular monastery of Bhutan- the Taktsang Monastery, also known as The Tiger’s Nest. This round-trip takes around 5 hours.

Departure
After breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport.
