Ama Dablam Base Camp trekking helps witness some of the beautifully settled Sherpa villages within easy walking distance from the Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital, and you will find yourself standing at the foothill of Ama Dablam, most splendid mountain. Ama Dablam base camp trekking trail shares the same trail with Everest base camp Trek and Kala Patthar until Pangboche (3930m). The trail separates either from Tyangboche monastery or Phortse village but after reaching Pangboche, it is just a day hiking trip to Ama Dablam base camp.

The term “Ama Dablam” means ‘mother’s necklace’. The hanging glacier resembles a ‘Dablam’ which is a piece of traditional necklace worn by Sherpa women around their neck.  This trekking route passes through the lovely forest to the world renowned and sacred monastery of Tyangboche. This fascinating trip to the base camp of the world's most beautiful mountain Ama Dablam offers magnificent views of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtega and the breathtaking view of Ama Dablam as well as the beautiful landscape of the Ama Dablam Base camp itself. Day 1
Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2886m.)

Arrive at Kathmandu and stay overnight at a hotel.Next day take a flight to Lukla which takes about 35 minutes. From Lukla Trek to Phakding (2640 m.) which takes approximately four hours.You begin your trek from Lukla following a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River. Nupla (5885m) which can be seen in the distance on the opposite bank is a peak atop the Kongde Ridge. You descend a mountainside path that merges into your route to Everest, with views to a valley to your right; and at its far end, Kusum Kang (6367m.) Stay overnight at lodge/camp.

Day 2
Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m.)

It takes approximately five hours.Namche Bazar (3440m) is surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges and opens out only where it faces the Bhote Koshi. Stay overnight at lodge/camp.

Day 3
A day for rest at Namche Bazaar (3440m.) for acclimatization.

It is an ideal place to spend a rest day for acclimatization to the high altitude before heading off towards Tyangboche. For acclimatization you walk up to Khumjung where you can visit a monastery. You can also enjoy the splendid views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tawoche, and Kwangde and so on. Or you can take an hour's walk up to Syangboche (3800m.) where Everest View Hotel is situated above Namche for an outstanding view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru. Stay overnight at lodge/camp.

Day 4
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tyangboche (3867m.).

As you climb through the forested zone, the incline eases and a splendid view appears. You continue climbing the mountainside diagonally until you come to the stone gate built by lamas which marks your entry into Tyangboche (3860m). It takes about five hours. Stay overnight at lodge/camp.

Day 5
Trek from Tyangboche to Cholungche

As you trek along, you see the deer, birds and other wildlife animals, enjoy and appreciate the beautiful rhododendron, the river, and the views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse and other mountains. It takes approximately four hours.Stay overnight at lodge/camp.

Day 6
Trek from Cholungche to Ama Dablam Base Camp (4572 m.).

You choose a back country route away from the tourist trail, traveling through tiny yak herder settlements and over countless moraines as you circle around the base of Ama Dablam. Base camp sits in a beautiful grassy area at 14,500 feet. Stay overnight at lodge/camp.

Day 7
Trek from Ama Dablam Base Camp (4572m) to Tyangboche. Stay overnight at lodge/camp.

Day 8
Trek from Tyangboche to Namche Bazaar (3440 m)

The walk from Tyangboche is mostly downhill on the main busy trail with a few steep climbs for an hour from the bridge at Phungitenga, near to Shanasha. The walk to Namche is very scenic on a long winding path. En route you will visit traditional villages of Khumjung and Khunde. From Khumjung village another 30 minutes walk brings you to the village of Khunde, where you can visit the Khunde Hospital funded by Sir Edmund Hillary Trust. After Khunde, a scenic and pleasant walk brings you to Namche for an overnight stay. It takes about four and half hours.Stay overnight at lodge/camp.

Day 9
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2886 m.)

The last day of your trek leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. The trek is pleasant, except for few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote- Koshi River crossing it three times. it takes about six hours.The last uphill climb of 45 minutes will bring you to Lukla for your overnight stay. Stay overnight at lodge/camp.

Day 10
Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu

You take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu.It takes 35 minutes. Stay overnight at hotel accommodation in Kathmandu.

Day 11
Final Departure

Arrive at the airport and check in for departure.
